Mark and Michelle Vander Pol in Malawi | July 19-July 23 - Wrapping up the trip

Steve Bussis, Stephen Roberts, and Mark climbed Mt. Nkhoma before leaving. This is a view of the village/town of Nkhoma below.

Although it is hard to see in this small photo, this is an "aerial" view of the Malawian countryside with the little villages scattered about.

The three guys at the peak monument.

Roberts looking out over the country.

Before we ate any meal we had to wash our hands first. Usually it was the wife who would go around and pour the water, but this time the space was really tight so we just passed the pitcher around and poured the water ourselves.

The Madimbo family who served us tea when we came to visit them to say good-bye.

We went around to all the student's houses one evening before all the students left Nkhoma to attend presbytery meetings. We saw a few in the afternoon, but had to get most of them at night. We started early, but by the time we got to the last houses most of the wives and children were in bed! It was a great time of fellowship and prayer as we said our good-byes to everyone.
The Guest House we stayed at is cared for by the lady sitting down, Matrine. She is a wonderful lady and she was assisted most days by Dorica (sp?) who is standing.

After we left Nkhoma on July 21 we stopped by the feeding center in Katondo to say good-bye to the kids there, however, nobody was there! They were all at a soccer game where the Katondo team was playing. Because of the circumstances at that time we decided it would be best for us to stay in Lilongwe for our final weekend in Malawi.

This photo is of our taxi ride to the airport. We each had to carry a suitcase on our laps in order to fit!

So that is it for these photos. There are a lot more and plenty of other things to talk about! If you have any questions about any photo or about any other part of our stay in Malawi, please ask! Click here for the previous page.
